RIDE REPORT POSTED FOR JON

As most of us know November can bring some nasty weather, but we were blessed with a perfect day, sunny and 70.  20 or so bikes were staged when I gave the ride brief.  Illinois’ most experienced Road Guard was in position and we were off.  Horns blaring, lights flashing we started our short trek to Mike’s Grandparents’ home.  We actually blew past the street, but we turned down the next one and came up on the family from their rear flank (our new surprise tactic).  The family had just come outside and they were very happy to see us.  Mike, beer in hand, was speechless.  We all dismounted and greeted our hero.  After we greeted Mike, we went to meet Grandpa, a WWII veteran who was very touched by our display.  We stayed to enjoy pizza and birthday cupcakes as this was also Mike and Mandy’s daughter’s birthday party.  After a few more hugs, handshakes and photos we departed to let Mike enjoy the remainder of his leave before returning to Iraq to finish his tour.  Thank you Sgt. Maza!  We’ll see you when you return!
