This was a 2 part Mission, which WO4 Herbert’s good friend Joyce wanted to give him,We were to pick him up at his place and escort him and his son to a birthday dinner,Then later that evening come back and do a Coin presantation.Wellmwe got to Hebert’s home and he was waiting for us outside.he sure does’nt look or act like he is 90.He was all grins when we rolled up.

Now,Hertbert was onboard the USS Honolulu when the bombs started dropping, himself and alot of his shipmates bailed as the ship was hit.His many Medals and Ribbons including Korean Presidential Unit Comendation are noted on his DD214.He retired with 27 Years Navy. The Dinner was at a very Nice Car Museum called “BlackHawk”

We dropped him off to a warm welcome of friends and Family waiting outside. We took some pics with him before we left.We headed out to Livermore for a USMC welcome Home. After the welcome Home, which ended at approx 8pm,we headed back to the BlackHawk Museum with members from Pleasanton Military Families, VFW, BSM.Once we arrived ,the Mayors of Danville and San Ramon were there waiting. We all then were announced and Herbert was brought forward. The Mayors presented him with Proclomations, the VFW with a 6-Pack,BSM & PMF with certificates, and WWR with the Coin. Many pics were taken and Herbert told us this was his best Birthday.
